To ensure that our food writer gets the experience of the average diner, enRoute keeps it old-school, making reservations under a fake name and paying for all expenses. Businesses launched between late spring of 2016 and June 2017 are eligible for consideration. Our panel of industry experts tips us off to the hottest openings that they feel are worthy of a visit. Then we pore over menus and stalk social media accounts to create an itinerary; recommended spots from that month-long dining marathon are reviewed on the long list. The restaurants that make the Top 10 are those that truly stand out for quality ingredients, smart service, stunning locations and chefs with a vision – the stuff that great meals, and great memories, are made of.
